2025 BFION Breastfeeding Week Celebration Resources
The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) is a global network that protects, promotes and supports breastfeeding worldwide. Each year, WABA selects a theme for World Breastfeeding Week and the 2025 theme is Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems.
In honour of National Breastfeeding Week, BFI Ontario has developed a National Breastfeeding Week resource kit based on the WABA theme. We hope the resource kit and activities help you celebrate this special week.

The 2022 WABA theme for World Breastfeeding week was Step Up for Breastfeeding: Educate and Support.
In honour of National Breastfeeding Week, BFI Ontario has developed the following materials to support your promotional efforts in October:
- Theme-based information sheet to support you and your organization in celebrating National Breastfeeding Week
- Parent Empowerment Cards 2023 to help perinatal families talk with health care providers about key issues and plan for the future
- A background information sheet about use of the Parent Empowerment Cards
- A crossword puzzle suitable for distribution to health care providers. Here is the answer sheet!

This year's theme is: Protect Breastfeeding: A Shared Responsibility
BFIO wants to support you as you spread the word that breastfeeding needs to be protected in our country so we have provided some social media messages that you can use here.
In addition, to celebrate we have developed a quiz for you to complete for a chance to win one of three free individual membership for one year here!

In Canada, we celebrate National Breastfeeding Week from October 1st to 7th each year, and use it as an opportunity to raise awareness about the vital importance of protecting, promoting, and supporting breastfeeding in our communities. This year's theme is support breastfeeding for a healthier planet.
